WHAT DO WE DO?
Demeter Canada coordinates biodynamic certification and education across Canada.
We offer two levels of certification, Demeter and In-Conversion to Demeter, both of which are based on standards established by the Biodynamic Federation – Demeter International.
Farms and businesses seeking Demeter Certification must operate in compliance with the BFDI (Biodynamic Federation – Demeter International) Standards. Demeter Canada’s Certification Committee reviews both the Demeter inspection reports and, where applicable, the organic reports to determine the level of Demeter certification to be granted. It is helpful if a farm operation is certified under the Canadian Organic Regime (COR); however, organic certification is not a mandatory prerequisite for Demeter Canada Certification.
Demeter Canada facilitates educational events and programs with the goal to promote biodynamic agricultural practices.
